Important Instructions for admission Seekers

1.   Submission of application for admission

Application for admission shall be submitted online only at the University website www.mriu.edu.in  for which application fee of Rs. 1200/- is payable. Payment can be made through Credit/ Debit card at the time of submission of application. Alternatively, candidate may purchase Admission Brochure from MRIU Campus, Administrative Headquarters or City Centers, details of which is available on university website. Admission Brochure contains a Scratch Card consisting of a covered number, which will facilitate submission of application form online. Admission Brochure without Scratch Card may be downloaded from MRIU website free of cost.

Once online application for admission is submitted successfully, the system will generate a unique application number which may be noted by the candidates as the same shall act as a Reference Number for all subsequent correspondence till the candidate is actually admitted.

2.   Directions for filling Online Application Form

  • Read Instructions for filling up Online Application Form carefully on the opening page after you Click ‘Apply Now for Admission’ Tab on the MRIU Website Home Page.
  • Keep a Digitized Photograph ready on your Computer Desktop for uploading with maximum 80 KB memory, 30mm x 45mm in size in a formal dress against plain background. Avoid photographs in T-Shirts / Tops / Flashy Clothing because this photograph will go for your identity card. Also keep ready copy of Secondary (10th), Senior Secondary (10 + 2) Examination and other qualifying exam, if any.
  • Fill-up all fields with the correct information. Do not use all Capital / Small Letters. Use Sentence case. Mandatory fields are marked with Red Asterisks, without which application will not be submitted. You will have the liberty to edit certain fields as directed by the format including Address, Mobile Number, Qualifying Examination Result etc.
  • Take out two print-outs  of the final version of the online application form which must be brought at the time of physical counseling for admission.

3.   Notification of Schedule for Physical Counseling for Admission 

  • Look for notices / alerts by clicking the ‘Admission Notices / Alerts’ Tab on the home page of MRIU website.
  • All Schedule for Physical Counseling for Admission and other related information will be available on the website as and when published. MRNAT Results and Merit list for various courses / program shall also be available on this Tab. 

4.   Physical Counseling for Admission 

  • It is absolutely mandatory for the candidates to appear in person for physical counseling for admission before the Admission Committee. No relaxation of any kind is permissible in this regard.
  • Candidate must bring the following documents in original along with two sets of Attested photocopies:
  1. Secondary School Examination Certificate (10th) – as proof of Date of Birth
  2. Senior Secondary School Examination Certificate (10+2)
  3. Detailed Mark sheets / Provisional Certificate / Degree / Diploma Certificate of the qualifying examination.
  4. Character Certificate from the Institution last attended.
  5. Result card of the relevant entrance examination.
  6. 4 passport size coloured photographs in formal dress.

All other documents must be submitted during orientation after start of classes or within 3 days from the date of admission, whichever is later.

  • On the day of physical counseling, candidates shall report on the Registration Desk, arrange documents in the specified sequence in the file cover given on the spot, appear before the Document Verification Committee for verification of documents and move to the Admission Committee if found eligible.
  • Admission committee shall allot the seats to the Candidates in order of merit subject to its availability and the candidates shall be required to deposit fee on the spot either through Demand Draft, Credit / Debit Card or in Cash. Cheques shall not be accepted. Additional convenience charges are payable as per rules in case of payment is made through Credit / Debit Card.
  • The seat shall be deemed to be allotted only on submission of fee. If a candidate fails to deposit the fee on the spot, the right to admission shall be forfeited and the seat shall be offered to the candidate next in the merit list.
  • If a candidate reports late for admission on the designated day and time, he / she will be offered the seat available at the time of his appearance before the Admission Committee.
  • All Candidates are advised to report on the day of physical counseling in  a formal and presentable dress as a fresh photograph may be required to be clicked on the spot.
  • All Students admitted in various programs shall collect their original testimonials / certificates at the time of allotment of seat against acknowledgement. All such students are also advised to keep a watch on MRIU Website for further instructions if any.
  • The Admission Committee shall ensure allotment of seats purely on merit. Canvassing of any kind may result in denial of admission.

5.   Preparation of Merit List 

  • The Merit Lists for each program shall be prepared as per the criteria given in the Admission Brochure.
  • For B.Tech Program the merit list shall be prepared on the basis of 60% weightage to score in JEE – Main 2014 examination and 40% weightage to the marks scored in 10+2 examination. Candidates are advised to supply the respective score in the application form as soon as the results are declared by the respective examining bodies. Those students who fail to supply any of these result shall go down in the merit list in the absence of the respective weightage.
  • For Admission in all other UG Programs, all students are required to appear for Group Discussions and Personal Interview (GDPI), which is an independent screening test. Although admission in all UG programs shall be based on the merit of respective MRNAT 2014 as first preference and percentage of marks scored in qualifying examination as a second preference, seats remaining vacant, those who fail to make a mark in GDPI may be denied admission.
  • The ranks in the respective Merit List shall be available on MRIU Website against Application Sequence Number generated by the system at the time of submission of online application.
  • For UG Programs, admission shall be made only if the Candidate has been declared pass in the qualifying examination clearly. Candidates having compartment shall not be admitted in any of the UG Program till their result for the supplementary examination has been declared within the final cut off date of admission.
  • For PG Programs, candidates may be admitted provisionally subject to fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria on or before 31.10.2014. For the purpose of preparation of Merit List, the marks scored upto pre final year of the qualifying examination shall be considered for those whose result has not been declared for the final year / semester. Student having compartments in any of the previous years shall not get credit for the subjects which they have not passed at the time of admission.
  • Admission Committee shall exercise fair discretion to see that based upon the academic performance in exam result which are available at the time of admission, whether the candidate is likely to meet the eligibility criteria. However it will be sole responsibility of the candidate to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for admission by the cut off date mentioned above and no relaxation in minimum eligibility criteria shall be granted.
  • For the purpose of determining minimum eligibility criteria, percentage of marks more than 0.50 and above shall be rounded off to 1. However relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility criteria shall be given to the candidates from Women / SC/ST Categories, although there is no reservation of any kind except for NRIs for whom 15% of the total seats in all programs are reserved. 

6.   MRNAT 2014

MRNAT 2014 (Manav Rachna National Admission Test) shall be conducted by the University across various disciplines, syllabi for which is available on the ‘Admission’ link on MRIU Website. University has deployed technology developed by India’s leading assessment agency ro ensure fair and transparent conduct of online test. The candidates shall be allotted a designated computer system in the examination centre and shall be required to login using Application Sequence Number and Password as conveyed to the applicant through email. It is therefore advised not to share Email IDs and Password with others to avoid complications. The questions shall appear on the monitor and the candidates shall submit answers by using mouse only. The computer system is connected to a Central Server which delivers the test in real time without web connectivity. All other functions are disabled in the machine and there is no Human involvement in the test. No formal computer knowledge is required to appear for the test. Other details and sample questions are also available on the University website. The dates of conduct of MRNAT – 2014 across various disciplines are given in the Admission Brochure.

7.   Payment of Fees

  • Schedule of Payment of Fees at the time of admission / first year:

a)    First Installment: At the time of admission

b)   Second Installment: On or before 15th November 2014

  • Schedule of payment of fees in subsequent years:

a)    First Installment: On or before 30th April of the calendar year.

b)   Second Installment: On or before 15th November of the calendar year.

  • Late Fee Payment

Those students who fail to deposit fee by the due date shall be levied a fine of Rs. 100/- per day including Sunday / Holidays up to 15 days. The name of the those students, who fail to deposit the fee with requisite fine within 15 days from the due date as mentioned above, shall be struck off from the rolls of the University immediately thereafter. However, such students may be re-admitted with the approval from Dean of the Faculty concerned after they deposit Rs. 2000/- as re-admission charges along with the fees and fine Rs. 1500/- .  The period during which the name of the student remains struck off will not be treated as inactive period for the purpose of calculation of attendance requirement.

 8.   Policy for Withdrawal and Refund of Fees

  • Candidates may withdraw their admission by submitting an online Application Form through the Admission Portal by logging in through their User Name and Password. Such candidate shall take out a print of the Withdrawal Application Form duly filled and submit the same in person along with original copy of the receipt of the fee deposited to the Office of the Registrar through Deputy Registrar {Registration & Scholarship) in Block-F, Ground Floor for which he / she must obtain an acknowledgement.
  • The fee deposited by such a candidate shall be refunded after deducting Rs. 1000/- provided the candidate has submitted the printed copy of Withdrawal Application up to the first day of Commencement of the classes. The Withdrawal Application submitted online shall not be considered if its printed copy along with original receipt of fee is not submitted to the Deputy Registrar (R & S) against acknowledgement in writing. In such cases, the refund of fee shall be made within 30 days from the final cut off date of admission, which shall be normally 30th September of the calendar year, through cheque in favor of the Candidate only and sent at the address for correspondence through recorded delivery.
  • It is made clear that no refund of fee shall be made after the commencement of classes, even if the fresh admission continues against the vacant/ dropout seats. It is, further, made clear that if a candidate seeks admission after the commencement of the classes and later, withdraws his / her admission, no refund of fees, in such case shall be made.
  • A student admitted in the University shall be required to pay fee for the entire duration of the course on annual basis in two installments. If a student is detained due to whatsoever reason, he / she shall be required to pay the fees again, when he / she is readmitted. It is made clear that if a student leaves the programme / course of study in  between, without completing the programme for whatsoever reasons, he/she will be liable to pay fees for the balance duration of the programme as well, as per directions of Honble Supreme Court of India in Islamic Academy of Education case No correspondence in respect of refund of fee against withdrawal shall be entertained until and unless it is in reference to the Acknowledgement No. and Date given by the Deputy Registrar (R & S) at the time of receipt of printed copy of the Withdrawal Application along with original receipt of the fee deposited.

9.   Scholarship / Freeship Policy

  • The university offers Scholarships to all students on the basis of marks/CGPA in the qualifying examination as per following scale: 

UG level Courses :

90.00% & above                                  100% Tuition Fee waiver

85.00% above & below 90.00%                     50% Tuition Fee waiver

80.00% above & below 85.00%                     25% Tuition Fee waiver 

PG level Courses :

80.00% & above                                  100% Tuition Fee waiver

75.00% above & below 80.00%                     50% Tuition Fee waiver

70.00% above & below 75.00%                     25% Tuition Fee waiver 

  • However, they are required to pay other fees as applicable to the programme concerned. Such students shall be required to maintain a minimum CGPA (SGPA in 1st semester) of 7.0 in the subsequent semesters without having any compartment in any subject and minimum 75% attendance in each semester, failing which the Scholarships awarded shall be withdrawn. For the purpose of calculation of percentage marks, aggregate marks in the qualifying exams shall only be considered even if the eligibility criteria is limited to some number of subjects.
  • In addition, suitable freeship shall be available to high achievers in the field of sports, persons suffering with Thalassaemia Major, sons / daughters of Army Personnel who have been killed in war/ terrorist attack, physically handicapped students etc. on case to case basis.
  •  All students admitted in various programmes shall be provided suitable study material as found suitable as facilitation. However, no rights of the students shall accrue in this regard. 

10.  List of other documents to be deposited after admission 

In addition to the documents mentioned under clause 4 above, all students will be required to deposit following documents either during the orientation program or within 3 days from the date of admission whichever is later:

a)    Certificate of Medical Fitness

b)   Migration Certificate

c)    Proof of Residence (Ration Card/Electricity Bill/Telephone Bill/PAN Card/Driving License etc.)

d)   Affidavit by candidate and by parents for “Anti Ragging”, the format for which shall be available of MRIU website

e)    Any other document required / notified later.

11.   Instructions for Curbing Ragging

  • As per orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, Ragging is a Grievous Offence. Any one indulging in ragging will be severely punished. The punishment may take the form of expulsion from the Institution, suspension from the Institute or classes for a limited period or fine with a public apology. The punishment may also take the shape of (i) Reporting to the police and lodging an FIR (ii) withholding scholarships or other benefits, (iii) debarring from representation in events, (iv) withholding results, (v) suspension or expulsion from hostel or mess, and the like. If the individuals committing or abetting ragging are not/ cannot be identified, collective punishment may be awarded to act as a deterrent.
  • All cases of ragging will be referred to Anti Ragging Committee of the University. All affected students are at liberty to approach Anti Ragging Committee/Squads on Telephone Numbers prominently displayed in the University.
  • The following will be termed as the act of ragging:

Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by any act, which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student(s), indulging in rowdy or in-disciplined activities which may cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in fresher or junior students) or asking the student(s) to do any act or perform something, which such student(s) will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or Psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

  • All students enrolled in the University are bound by the directions of UGC/ AICTE and other regulatory bodies in respect of prevention of ragging in educational institution campuses. Hence they are advised to keep themselves updated on their websites.  
12.   Attendance Rules and Code of Conduct
  • Clause 8 of Ordinance No. 3 titled, “Conduct and Evaluation of Examinations for Programmes Leading to All Bachelor’s/ Master’s   Degrees and Diplomas following Semester System” provides as under:

“A student shall be required to have a minimum attendance of 75% in the aggregate of all the courses taken together in a semester. Discretion of 25% relaxation in attendance may be exercised by Dean of the Faculty concerned on the basis of genuine reasons.

  • Student who has been detained due to shortage of attendance shall not be allowed to be promoted to the next semester and he/she will be required to take re-admission and repeat all courses of the said semester with the next batch of students. The University Enrolment number of such student shall however remain unchanged and he or she shall be required to complete the programme in a maximum permissible period as mentioned in clause 4(c) of the Ordinance.
  • Dean of the Faculty concerned shall announce the names of all such students who are not eligible to appear in the semester-end examination, at least 4 calendar days before the start of the semester-end examination and simultaneously intimate the same to the Controller of Examinations. In case any student appears by default, who in fact has been detained by the Faculty, his / her result shall be treated as null and void.”
  • The students are advised to ensure that they meet the minimum attendance requirement for appearing in the semester end examination failing which they shall not be allowed to sit in the examination. Students are also advised to maintain utmost expected discipline in and outside the University Campus. Disturbance of tranquility of the Campus in particular and society in general, through any means shall be treated as an act of indiscipline and suitable disciplinary action shall be taken against the defaulting students. Students are also advised to dress appropriately, while in campus, as per demand of the occasion.
  • University has zero tolerance for indiscipline in and outside the campus by the students. Drinking, taking drugs, damaging University property, indulging in any kind of violence, misbehaving with fellow students / teachers, ragging etc. are included in the list of undesirable activities and constitute the moral turpitude. Very strict action including suspension / rustication from the roles of the University may be taken  against the defaulting students.

13.    General Instructions

  • The student would be liable for necessary action as deemed fit by the MRIU for any wrong information filled in the application form. If a candidate is admitted on the basis of information submitted by him/her, which is found to be incorrect or false on a later date, his / her admission shall be cancelled and all fees and other dues paid by him/her shall be forfeited. The University may also take further action as deemed fit against such candidate and / or his / her parents / guardians as considered suitable.
  • Manav Rachna International University presently follows the reservation policy as under: NRI/Foreign National / PIO seats: 15% in all programmes/ courses. General Seats: 85%.
  • All fees through Demand Draft are payable in the name of ‘Manav Rachna International University’ only.
  • Mere inclusion of the name of a candidate in the merit list would not ensure his / her admission. Candidate would be required to prove his / her eligibility for admission by providing original and genuine documents in support of the claims made.
  • The admission made by MRIU shall be provisional, till the same is confirmed by the Registration Branch of the University.
  • If the University Authorities are not satisfied with the character, past behaviour and antecedents of a candidate, they may refuse to admit him/her in the University. In order to ensure academic standards, discipline and congenial atmosphere in the University, the Vice-Chancellor of the University/Dean of the concerned faculty may cancel the admission of any student who is found to be involved in activities which are prejudicial to maintaining harmony on the campus.
  • The University has a streamlined method of redressal of grievances. The Grievances Redressal Committee addresses all kinds of grievances including those pertaining to admissions, examinations, conduct on the campus etc. on top priority.
  • The University has a Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee to deal with all Sexual Harassment related issues, which are handled on utmost priority. The candidates who are admitted in the University would be required to follow all rules and regulations in letter and spirit, conduct themselves in an orderly manner and maintain the best decorum, failing which suitable penal action would be taken against them.
  • Canvassing in any form for influencing the admission by any candidate and / or his / her parents/ guardians would result in his/ her summary rejection for admission.
  • The admission procedure is subject to modification, without notice, as per directions of UGC or any competent authority.
  • The final cut off date for admission to all the courses is 30 September 2014.
  • Admission Calendar is only indicative and subject to change by the competent authority.
  • All applicants are instructed to follow the MRIU website on a regular basis for date of counseling and other details related to the admission process.
  • The contents of the Admission Brochure are subject to change without prior notice. All disputes pertaining to admission under the domain of Admission Brochure are subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Faridabad only
