Manav Rachna International University concludes symposium on Research Designs in Health Sciences in association with the Teesside University, UK

Faridabad, 27 March 2012:  Faculty of Applied Science (FAS), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) organized a day Faculty Development Program in association with the Teesside University, UK, today. The theme of the symposium was Research Designs in health sciences. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Dean, Asian Hospital, Faridabad was the guest of honour and the entire session was headed by Dr. G.L.Khanna, Dean FAS, MRIU. Dr. Dave Morland, Principal Lecturer, School of Social Sciences & Law and Dr. Gokul Kandasamy, Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy, School of Social Sciences & Law, Teesside University were Invited resource personnels.

Dr. G.L. Khanna, Dean FAS, MRIU delivered the inaugural speech and talked about the impact of evidence based practice on health and social well being of an individual. He emphasized, “That the said objective can only be achieved by undertaking appropriate research through a proper research design.” Dr. Arvind Gupta stressed upon the importance of research in clinical practice and held a firm view that a good clinical practice can only be developed in the light of newer research.

Dr. Dave Morland kick started the academic session and explained the research designs to an august gathering of Ph.D scholars, post-graduate students and the faculty members. Dr. Gokul Kandasamy expert in  Biomechanical analysis of cricketers fast bowling’ and has worked extensively on foot mechanics explained the finer nuances of Clinical Plantar Pressure Analysis using latest technology to the audience who listened with rapt attention.

The discussion with Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr  O P Bhalla and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr N C Wadhwa was held with the possibility of developing dual M.Sc. and collaborative research plan and developing student and staff exchange programme for clinical and academic experience.

The present era is marked by specialization, technological innovations, intra -disciplinary amalgation and interpretation.
