Manav Rachna join hands with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia for joinarch program on physiotherapy

To develop dual degree program in the field of sports therapy and rehabilitation-

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Perak Darul Ridzuan has a long distinguished history beginning with its establishment in 1922 as the Sultan Idris Training College (SITC). he university has since established itself as a niche centre for excellence in education. A three member delegation from the Universiti Pendidkan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia visited the Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International University recently, to develop an understanding in the fields of physiotherapy, nutrition and sports sciences among the two universities.

The delegation was headed by the Dean Academics, Dr. Mohd. Sani Madon supported by the Deputy Dean, Dr. Abdul Rahim Mohd. Shariff and Senior Lecturer, Dr. Sanmuga Nathan.

 

The delegation met Dr. O.P. Bhalla, Chancellor, MRIU, and discussed about the possibilities of conducting joint research projects at the two universities. Dr. Bhalla said that culturally and socio economically Malaysia and India have many things in common and he would be pleased to have an exchange program in the fields of research, faculty and student exchange.

Dr. Bhalla explained that the collaboration of the two universities will help mutually and would lead to growth in the fields of physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation and sports sciences.

While meeting the Vice Chancellor, Dr. N. C. Wadhwa, the Dean from UPSI expressed his keen interest in developing a dual degree program in the field of sports therapy and rehabilitation. Dr. Wadhwa mentioned that student exchange with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris will be a very positive step for both the universities.

Manav Rachna International University is among the leaders in the field of sports physiotherapy in the country while UPSI are developed in the field of sports sciences and sports pedagogy.

MRIU and UPSI have been working together in sports pedagogy and research on tennis and hockey players. Dr G.L. Khanna, Dean FAS, informed they have planned a few more areas of research and future collaborations. Students and faculty of both the institutions will be benefited by this program.
